June 8th 1869.
My Dear Brother Stephen.
I have just recd your
letter of Jany last. I am glad
to hear that at that time you
were quite well, + getting along
in your usual way. It gives me
great pleasure - though it is a
pleasure not altogether unmixed
with sadness - to hear of the joyous
time you spend annually at Buchanan
during your New Year Holidays.
I hope you will long continue
to regard the "dear old place" as
the best + brightest to which
you can run from the cares of
business, + the dull monotony
of city life. - I hope too that
before very long I shall be able
to join with you in these festivities
as in the days of yore. -
